Mark Sheehan, the vocalist for the longtime Massachusetts hardcore band Out Cold, passed away over the weekend at the age of 41. I wasn’t close friends with Mark but he was always great to me over the years. He was friendly and had a good sense of humor, quite the opposite of what you’d expect, given the darkly misanthropic lyrics he penned for his band over the years. Out Cold were all business/no bullshit when they played—Mark would simply say “We’re Out Cold,” then they’d tear into 25-30 minutes (on average) of blistering and economical hardcore punk, usually without a break between songs, rarely with any sort of commentary and, at the end, he’d repeat “We’re Out Cold,” put the mike down and that would be it. So this week’s show is dedicated to his memory and you’ll hear 14 of their songs, culled from Out Cold’s vast catalog that spanned over 15 years.
