Sonic Overload 6/2716

I’m not an expert in geopolitics by any stretch of the imagination but, contrary to attempts to say the UK’s exit from the European Union was a matter of economics or wishing to gain control back over its own economy, the whole thing doesn’t pass the smell test. The majority of people voted in favor of “Brexit” for dubious reasons—if I was being less than charitable (who? me?), I’d say it had a hell of a lot to do with anti-immigrant sentiment, stoked by the far-right UKIP (UK Independence Party). And you wonder if the Vulgar Talking Yam running for President in this country is going to make proverbial hay with it. I don’t know but the economic effects have been swift and brutal. We’ll see what happens...

And another tribute—this time in memory of Barker Gee, who lived in Boston for years and played in such bands as Witches With Dicks and Ringers and had also played in the Oakland band Neon Piss in recent years. He unexpectedly passed away last week. He was just 32. This year just keeps getting worse. R.I.P.

Next week, it’s our annual 4th of July Salute To America blowout...
