Here we are on the verge of a government shutdown that could lead to economic ruin. At the very least, it’s going to disrupt people’s lives, especially those who are barely getting by, living paycheck to paycheck. Starting off this week’s show with Double Negative, who I just learned have broken up. Definitely one of my favorite bands in recent years. Given the amount of airplay they’ve received on Sonic Overload over the years, you probably figured that out already.

Not much else on my mind, except that I think it’s obscene that Congressional Republicans are cutting food stamps. Sure, let ‘em starve, the bums! They’re just driving up to the store in their Cadillacs to buy lottery tickets. And while I’m being sarcastic, there are people who think that way. Same bullshit since the Reagan era which, by the way, was a golden era for hardcore.

It’s so frustrating—no wonder I continue to find solace in loud, abrasive punk rock. We need more of it!
